Memorial Day 2019 Activities

Memorial Day is the most important day on our Post calendar. Honoring the Veterans who gave their all so that we will be free deserves the very best we can offer. Volunteers are desperately needed. Memorial Day is an excellent opportunity for us to show our community what we are capable of.

Memorial Day Grave Flagging

We flag all known veteran graves in Henrietta cemeteries in time for the Memorial Day celebration. Volunteers are needed for this noble function. This year we will meet at the Post on Monday, May 13th at 9:00 am. Volunteers are desperately needed!

Maplewood Cemetery

We will hold a ceremony at Maplewood Cemetery on Sunday, May 19th, at 9 am where we will read the names of our honored veterans who reported for their final muster. Everyone is invited to attend. Volunteers are needed for the Color Guard and Rifle Squad. The Color Guard and Rifle Squad are also needed for the ceremony at the Veterans Memorial.

Memorial Day Parade / Ceremony

The Memorial Day Parade is Sunday, May 19th. The parade will begin at 12:00 pm at the Rush-Henrietta Senior High School and end at the Henrietta Town Hall. After the parade there will be a brief ceremony at the Veterans Memorial to honor those who gave their lives for our country.

Open House

We will not have an Open House this time, instead we are partnering with the Town and having an old fashioned picnic behind the Recreation Center where we will be grilling Zweigle’s hot dogs, serving them with a bag of chips and lemonade for $1.00 a serving. The money we make will be donated to a Town charity. The post will be open immediately following the parade. Help is needed to set up, cook, serve and clean up afterwards.
